MISSION STATEMENT

“The mission of the Association of Village PRIDE, Inc. is to assist youth from multicultural
backgrounds to become conscious and productive citizens of society who will make significant
contributions to their community.”
Our Logo:
The Logo is a combination of European and African cultures.  The Coat of Arms is adapted from
European traditions while the symbols are adapted from the Ghanaian Adinkra designs.  Starting
from the top left corner and continuing clockwise, the symbols are TABONA, SANKOFA,
KUNTUNKANTAN, and NKONSONKONSON.  Hold your mouse over each symbol to learn
it's meaning.
TABONA (oars): Symbol of strength, confidence and persistence
SANKOFA (Go back and fetch it): Symbol of the wisdom in learning from the past in building the future-- Adapted from the proverb,
NKONSONKONSON: (a chain) Symbol of unity, interdependence, and cooperation
KUNTUNKANTAN (inflated pride): Symbol which warns us against inflated pride and egocentricism
